Pallet Rack Flue Products
Open flue space is what lets warehouse sprinklers reach a fire deep in the rack, and pallets pushed into that space defeat the system. NFPA 13 calls for a nominal 6″ transverse flue in rack storage; whether a longitudinal flue is required depends on your rack configuration and sprinkler type. Flue Guard and Flue Keeper hold both open, stopping pallet push-through while doubling as pallet safety stops.

Flue Guard, Flue Keeper or Flue Space Divider?
All three hold flue space open. They hold different flue spaces, and that is the distinction worth getting right. Over 25 ft of storage you may need more than one — the flue space dividers guide explains where each applies. For very heavy pallets, tile or stone for example, a true beam stop fitted to your rack maker’s beam is the stronger choice; see the beam pallet stop.
| Flue Keeper™ | Flue Guard™ | Flue Space Divider | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holds | Transverse flue, at the rack upright | Longitudinal flue, back-to-back between rows | Transverse flue line across a wire deck |
| Geometry | 3″ each side of the post — the nominal 6″ total | Maintains a 6″, 12″ or 18″ flue (12/18/24″ row spacer); heavy-duty and structural versions for heavier loads | Wire divider sized to your deck, made to order |
| Also does | Pallet safety stop at any elevation | Back stop against pallet push-through | Splits the deck for two-aisle picking |
| Reach for it when | You need the flue held at the columns | You are stopping loads pushing into the row behind | Loads sit on wire decking and you want the flue held on the deck itself |
A patented longitudinal flue space divider that maintains consistent flue spacing and prevents pallet push-through.
- Sizes: 12″ · 18″ · 24″
- Install: Tek screws included
The single-stop version of Flue Guard™. It mounts on one pallet rack beam instead of spanning a back-to-back pair, and stops pallets before they can be pushed through into the flue space. Stocked with a 3″ base flange in standard gray powder coat.
- Configuration: Single stop, mounts on one beam
- Stock size: 3″ base flange
The original transverse flue space keeper, designed to keep boxes from encroaching into the transverse flue space so sprinkler water can penetrate the pallet rack. The brackets also act as pallet safety stops at various elevations and install quickly on all major rack brands (US Patent #7,857,152).
- Standard size: 42″ × 3″
- Flue space: 3″ on each side of the post (6″ total)
- Members: Heavy-duty tube for frames up to 48″ (custom available)
- Function: Pallet safety stop at pallet or product levels
The heavy-duty version of the back-to-back Flue Guard™: the same double stop that holds the longitudinal flue open between rows, with an angle-iron brace along the bottom for heavier pallet loads than the standard stop is built for. Made to order to your flue width and beam.
- Configuration: Double stop, spans a back-to-back pair of beams
- Reinforcement: Angle-iron brace along the bottom
- Sizing: Made to order to your flue width and row spacer
The heavy-duty version of the single-sided Flue Guard™. It mounts on one beam like the standard single stop, with a perpendicular brace down the side for heavier pallets and harder pushes than the standard unit is built for. Made to order; base flange to suit your beam.
- Configuration: Single stop, mounts on one beam
- Reinforcement: Perpendicular brace down the side
- Sizing: Made to order; base flange to suit your beam
A single-sided Flue Guard™ built for structural pallet rack: a heavy steel plate stop rather than the formed standard unit, for the loads and beam sections structural rack carries. Made to order to your beam.
- Configuration: Single stop, mounts on one beam
- Construction: Heavy steel plate
- For: Structural pallet rack

A wire mesh divider that stands up from a wire deck along the flue line, holding the transverse flue open between hand-stacked loads the way a flue keeper does at the post, and splitting the deck down the center so it can be picked from both aisles. Adds to new or existing wire mesh decking; custom sizes available.
- Type: Wire mesh divider
- Holds: Transverse flue line across a wire deck
- Also does: Divides the deck for two-aisle picking
- Application: New or existing wire mesh decking
