Rack Containment & Fall Protection

Product that falls out the back of a rack or pushes through between rows is the failure mode most warehouses discover only after a near miss — and OSHA 1910.176(b) requires materials stored in tiers to be secured against sliding, falling or collapse. Rack guard netting, heavy polyester safety straps, welded-wire mesh backing and rack guards, and beam- and floor-mounted pallet stops each catch or stop the load at a different point, and all mount to standard teardrop and slotted uprights without welding.

Safety netting down a loaded pallet rack aisle

Netting & Straps · 2

Warehouse safety netting for pallet rack: woven mesh that spans the back or ends of a bay to catch product and debris before it falls into aisles or onto pedestrians, which is the secure-storage duty OSHA 1910.176(b) puts on you. It hooks to standard teardrop or slotted uprights and keeps the longitudinal flue space clear for sprinklers. Standard bay sizes stock from 8′ to 13′ wide, with custom and offset versions for overhanging loads.

  • Type: Woven-mesh rack guard / debris net
  • Function: Catches falling product/debris off the back or ends of a bay
  • Mounting: Hooks to standard teardrop or slotted uprights
  • Sizing: Standard bay widths, with custom and offset versions

Heavy 2″ polyester webbing straps that span the back or side of a bay as a rear stop, keeping palletized and shrink-wrapped loads from pushing through into the flue space or falling into aisles — a tool-free alternative to a backstop beam, and one way of meeting the secure-storage duty OSHA 1910.176(b) puts on you. They mount flush to standard rear uprights with teardrop, slotted, structural, or J-hook hardware and remove for access in seconds. Standard lengths fit 4–13 ft bays, with custom sizes available.

  • Type: Polyester webbing rear/side-stop strap
  • Material: 2″ polyester webbing · ~2,400 lb assembly burst strength
  • Function: Rear stop against pallet push-through into flue or aisle
  • Mounting: Flush to rear uprights · teardrop, slotted, structural or J-hook

Mesh Backing & Rack Guards · 2

Welded-wire back-guard panels that bolt to the rear uprights of standard pallet rack to stop product push-through into aisles and protect pedestrians below — the secure-storage duty OSHA 1910.176(b) puts on you. Built from 10-gauge steel wire welded into 2″ × 2″ mesh on a steel angle frame, panels stack to any height and start at the floor or any level where protection is required. Stocked in 1-ft width increments in 4′ and 5′ heights, with flush or offset mounting for overhanging loads.

  • Type: Welded-wire back-guard panel
  • Material: 10-ga wire · 2″ × 2″ mesh · steel angle frame
  • Function: Stops product push-through into aisles / protects pedestrians
  • Mounting: Bolts to rear uprights · flush or offset for overhang

All-welded panels of 2″ × 2″ × 10 GA mesh in a 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ × 12 GA angle frame, fixed to the back or ends of a bay as a rigid alternative to netting. Where a net stretches and needs periodic inspection for cuts and broken webbing, a welded panel either is intact or is visibly damaged, which is why it is often specified over pick faces and pedestrian routes. Flush, offset and special-angle brackets cover pallet overhang and panels extending above the top beam.

  • Mesh: 2″ × 2″ × 10 GA welded wire
  • Frame: 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ × 12 GA structural angle, all-welded
  • Heights: 3 ft to 5 ft
  • Widths: 8 ft to 16 ft

Backstops & Pallet Stops · 2

A steel stop that slides onto the rear beam and physically limits how far a pallet can be pushed into the bay. It stops the two failures that follow over-travel: product pushed off the back of the rack, and pallets driven into the flue space where they block sprinkler penetration. Flush, 3″ and 6″ overhang versions suit different load depths, and it also holds waterfall wire deck in place on a 1-3/4″ × 1-3/4″ mesh grid.

  • Fits beam: 2-3/4″ deep × 4-3/4″ or 6-1/2″ face
  • Versions: Flush · 3″ overhang · 6″ overhang
  • Install: Slides over the rear beam; bolt-through or Tek screw
  • Also: Secures waterfall wire deck on 1-3/4″ × 1-3/4″ mesh spacing

A floor-anchored stop for the ground-level bay, where there is no rear beam to hang a pallet stop from. A 7″ × 6″ × 4″ block in 3/8″ steel, anchored behind the load so a pallet cannot catch on it, fixed with two 1/2″ × 3″ concrete anchors.

  • Profile: 7″ W × 6″ H × 4″ D, 3/8″ thick steel
  • Anchors: Two 1/2″ × 3″ Tapcon anchors, behind the guard
  • Use: Ground-level bays with no rear beam
  • Finish: Powder-coated safety yellow
