Dock & Door Safety
The dock is where the heaviest traffic meets an open drop. Rotating dock gates and dock stops close the opening when a trailer is away, lift and fabric gates give a fast barrier at pick modules and staging bays, and door track protectors keep forklift strikes off the overhead door mechanism, which is the single most expensive thing to replace at a dock position.

An all-welded steel gate that pivots across the dock opening when no trailer is docked, standing 42″ high so it reads as a barrier rather than a trip rail. It mounts over a 6″ × 42″ bollard, which means the bollard takes any impact instead of the gate hinge. Supplied in 5 ft to 14 ft widths in 1 ft increments, single or paired for wide openings.
- Height: 42″ (OSHA guardrail height)
- Widths: 5 ft to 14 ft in 1 ft increments
- Construction: All-welded steel
- Mounting: Over a 6″ × 42″ bollard
The heaviest barrier in the dock range, rated by the manufacturer at 30,000 lbs at 4 mph — an order of magnitude above interior guardrail, because a loaded truck reversing at a dock edge carries far more energy than an aisle strike. Built on 5″ steel posts with 12″ × 12″ × 5/8″ offset base plates and 1″ pins, with a sliding locking plate and no pinch points. Clearances of 8, 10 and 12 ft.
- Impact rating: 30,000 lbs at 4 mph (manufacturer-stated)
- Height: 42″
- Posts: 5″ steel on 12″ × 12″ × 5/8″ offset base plates
- Clearances: 8 ft · 10 ft · 12 ft
A vertical-lift barrier that rises straight up rather than swinging, for openings where there is no floor space for a gate arc. Air assist takes the weight so it can be raised one-handed, and aluminium rails keep the moving section light while the carbon steel posts carry the load. The 42″ top rail meets OSHA guardrail height when lowered.
- Action: Vertical lift, air-assisted
- Posts: Carbon steel, 4.5″ × 2″
- Rails: Aluminium, 1.5″
- Top rail: 42″ (OSHA guardrail height)
A retractable industrial fabric barrier that pulls across a dock or door opening at about 3 lbs of effort, so it actually gets used on every cycle rather than being left open. At 42″ high it provides a visible stop for pedestrians and pallet trucks while still letting air move through, which keeps a ventilated dock ventilated and blocks birds, insects and blown debris. Widths from 8 ft to 20 ft.
- Height: 42″
- Pull force: ~3 lbs
- Widths: 8 ft · 9–10 ft · 11–12 ft · 13–16 ft · 17–20 ft
- Airflow: Permeable — blocks debris, insects and birds
A 48″-high steel guard set in front of the vertical track of an overhead door. A bent track is one of the more expensive dock repairs because the door is out of service until it is fixed, and the damage usually comes from a forklift clipping the track rather than a direct hit. Formed from 3/16″ steel on a 1/4″ baseplate with 7″ standard clearance, up to 14″ on request, in left- and right-hand versions.
- Height: 48″
- Construction: 3/16″ steel, 1/4″ baseplate
- Clearance: 7″ standard, up to 14″
- Handing: Left or right
A short steel channel guard that bolts down in front of an overhead door track, where fork trucks and other moving equipment can damage it. It comes 24″ or 36″ tall on a 6″ × 8″ base plate and is 5″ wide overall. Yellow with black safety stripes, and it takes standard 1/2″ anchors.
- Heights: 24″ or 36″
- Footprint: 6″ × 8″ base plate · 5″ overall width
- Anchors: Standard 1/2″ (optional 1/2″ low-profile)
- Finish: Yellow with black safety stripe
A counterbalanced dock-edge gate whose rail folds as it lifts, so it covers a 10 ft or 12 ft opening without needing the overhead clearance a straight gate does. Closed, it puts a 42″ top rail across an open dock door or truck pit and is rated by its maker for 200 lbs of top-rail pressure; raised, it clears the opening completely. Gas cylinders take the weight, and it can be set up to open either way.
- Clear openings: 10 ft or 12 ft
- Top rail: 42″ above floor when closed
- Top-rail load: 200 lbs; meets the OSHA 1910.23 load force protection requirement when properly anchored (manufacturer-stated)
- Shipping weight: 85 lbs (10 ft) · 91 lbs (12 ft)
A counterbalanced straight rail that lifts up out of the way of a standard dock door and drops back down to close it off. Closed, the top rail sits 42″ off the floor and its maker rates it for 200 lbs of top-rail pressure. It comes in 8 ft and 10 ft clear widths. Because the rail lifts straight up, check the headroom: the 10 ft gate needs about 167″ when raised.
- Clear openings: 8 ft or 10 ft
- Top rail: 42″ above floor when closed
- Top-rail load: 200 lbs; meets the OSHA 1910.23 load force protection requirement when properly anchored (manufacturer-stated)
- Shipping weight: 62 lbs (8 ft) · 67 lbs (10 ft)
