End of Aisle & Row End Protection

A row end takes a different kind of hit than a column mid-aisle. Trucks turn in at speed, carry a load out past the frame line, and strike the end frame square rather than glancing off it, so the guard has to cover the full depth of the upright and be anchored to the slab rather than the rack. The range runs from a 5″ low-profile pipe guard that stays clear of pallet overhang, through curved and crescent guards that deflect a turning truck back into the aisle, up to 3/8″ steel on 6″ × 4″ angle for very narrow aisle bays where wire-guided trucks and order pickers pass within inches of the frame.

A heavy end-of-aisle rack protector for severe environments and high-traffic intersecting aisles, protecting the entire depth of the upright where most damage occurs. Built with 5/16″-thick construction on a pre-punched angle base and available in right, left or double-end designs.

  • Height: 12″ tall
  • Construction: 5/16″-thick steel
  • Base: 5″ × 3″ × 7/16″-thick steel angle, pre-punched
  • Mounting: 3/4″-dia. anchors (sold separately)

A 5 mm steel guard that wraps the exposed corner of an end-of-row upright, doorway or wall corner to take the brunt of forklift strikes. Floor-mounted on an 8″ × 8″ base plate with three 1/2″ wedge anchors, it leaves a 6″ × 6″ clearance around the column. Available in 12″, 18″, 24″ and 42″ heights, powder-coated safety yellow.

  • Mount: Floor-mounted · (3) 1/2″-dia. wedge anchors
  • Construction: 5 mm (1/5″) thick steel
  • Heights: 12″ · 18″ · 24″ · 42″
  • Base plate: 8″ × 8″ (6″ × 6″ inside clearance)

A floor-mounted guard that runs the depth of the end frame and curves outward into the aisle, taking the hit before a truck reaches the upright. Standard duty is an 8″ upright on 5″ × 3″ angle in 1/4″ steel; heavy duty steps up to a 12″ upright on 6″ × 4″ angle in 1/2″ steel for intersecting aisles and high-traffic ends. Ordered left, right or double-sided in 42″ and 48″ lengths.

  • Lengths: 42″ · 48″
  • Configurations: Left · Right · Double
  • Standard duty: 8″ upright · 5″ × 3″ angle · 1/4″ steel
  • Heavy duty: 12″ upright · 6″ × 4″ angle · 1/2″ steel

A low-profile end guard built from 4.5″ OD Schedule 40 pipe with welded end caps, standing only 5″ tall. The round face turns a square-on strike into a deflection, and the low height keeps it clear of pallet overhang at the first beam level. Bolted to the floor in 36″, 42″ and 48″ lengths.

  • Height: 5″ (low profile)
  • Construction: Schedule 40 pipe, 4.5″ OD, welded caps
  • Lengths: 36″ · 42″ · 48″
  • Mounting: Floor-bolted

The heaviest end guard in the range, formed from 3/8″ steel for very narrow aisle operations, where wire-guided trucks, order pickers and AGVs run within inches of the frame at speed and an end-of-row strike carries far more energy than in a conventional aisle. Its square-end profile saves up to 5″ of aisle space against a conventional end guard. Left, right or double-ended, in 42″ and 48″ lengths, anchored with 3/4″ wedge anchors.

  • Construction: 3/8″ steel
  • Lengths: 42″ · 48″
  • Configurations: Left · Right · Double-ended
  • Aisle saving: Up to 5″ against a conventional end guard

An end-of-aisle guard with a notched profile that nests in close to the rack frame, so it protects the row end without taking the floor space a conventional end guard needs. At 12″ high it stays below the first beam and does not block the first pallet position. Heavy-duty 3/8″ steel, installed around the rack legs at the end of the aisle.

  • Construction: Heavy-duty 3/8″ steel
  • Profile: Notched to nest close to the frame
  • Height: 12″ low profile; does not block the first pallet bay
  • Install: Around the rack legs at the end of the aisle

A row-end protector with a 12″-high, 3/8″ steel crescent welded to an L5″ × 3″ × 1/4″ structural floor angle, wrapping the end frame from the aisle side. Single-sided suits a row end against a wall or flue; double-sided is used where aisles intersect and impact can come from either direction. Note that right- and left-hand crescents must be ordered as pairs.

  • Crescent: 12″ high, 3/8″ steel
  • Floor angle: L5″ × 3″ × 1/4″ structural steel
  • Single-sided: 24″ · 42″ · 48″ · 54″
  • Double-sided: 42″ · 48″

A bolt-together end-of-aisle protector: a 1/4″ steel floor angle with an 8″ protector head on one or both ends, sized for 42″ or 48″ rack bays. Because the heads bolt on rather than being welded, the same angle makes a left, right or double-head unit, and heads and angles are sold separately as replacement parts. It is the medium-duty, lower-cost option to the XT, built in Wisconsin and shipped with anchors.

  • Protector head: 8″ H × 1/4″ thick, bolted (1/2″ × 1-1/2″ bolts included)
  • Floor angle: 3.5″ W × 6″ H × 1/4″ thick
  • Anchors: 1/2″ × 5″, included (3 per kit)
  • Rack bays: 42″ or 48″ wide; custom sizes available

The heavy version of the Wilgard bolt-together end-of-aisle protector: 1/2″-thick structural steel throughout, with a 12″ head on a 4″ × 6″ floor angle, for high-traffic row ends. Bolt the head to either end, or both, for left, right or double-head protection on 42″ or 48″ bays; heads and angles are also sold separately as replacement parts. Built in Wisconsin and shipped with anchors.

  • Protector head: 12″ H × 1/2″ thick, bolted (1/2″ × 2″ bolts included)
  • Floor angle: 4″ W × 6″ H × 1/2″ thick
  • Anchors: 3/4″ × 6″ screw anchors, included (3 per kit)
  • Rack bays: 42″ or 48″ wide; custom sizes available

Which one do I need?

In most bays the rack decides this, not preference.

How hard is the aisle actually working?

Duty steps up with traffic. Standard duty is an 8″ upright on 5″ × 3″ angle in 1/4″ steel for an ordinary row end; heavy duty moves to a 12″ upright on 6″ × 4″ angle in 1/2″ steel where aisles intersect. Very narrow aisle is its own case — wire-guided trucks and order pickers pass within inches of the frame at speed, so an end-of-row strike carries far more energy than the same hit in a conventional aisle.

Does the pallet overhang the frame line?

Where loads sit proud of the upright at the first beam level, a tall end guard fouls the pallet before it protects anything. A 5″ low-profile pipe guard stays under the overhang, and its round face turns a square-on strike into a deflection rather than stopping it dead.

One side, or both?

A row end against a wall or a flue only needs guarding from the aisle side. Where two aisles intersect, impact can arrive from either direction and a double-sided guard is the right call. Note that on the wrap-around crescent, right- and left-hand units are ordered as pairs.
